Swing high

Last week we had AMAZING weather, I'm talking 75 one day and 80 the next! So while I was working, and since I'm blessed to have such an amazing job and work for even more amazing people who know the importance of having a double stroller when you have two kiddos, I loaded up the boys and we went for some walks. Kevin absolutely loves to go places, especially when it involves being outside, and we even found a nice little park close by that has some baby swings. So I loaded him in the swings and he loved it.

Valentines Day

Ken and I try to do sweet things for each other almost every day. Whether it be writing notes to each other, the kisses he gives me every morning before he leaves for work, or the little "treats" we get each other every time we have to do a store one, we make sure we let each other know how much we love each other each and every day. Valentines Day is no different, we try to come up with sweet things for each other. Some years we don't have very much spending money to go out to a fancy dinner or buy each other nice gifts, but what we lack in money we make up for in creativity and thought. This Valentines Day we were focused on packing and moving and decided to forgo a fancy dinner. Ken had duty the night plus an overnight watch so I knew he wouldn't be home for a while on Monday. I took Kevin to the commissary and did a little shopping run for a romantic stay at home V-Day dinner. I decided to make heart shaped mini meatloafs, twice baked baby red mashed potatoes, asparagus and a chocolate cake with home made cream cheese frosting. My plan was to have the house completely clean (as much as I could boxes and disorganization permitting) have Kevin napping just as Ken got home so we could sit down and have our nice romantic candlelit dinner just the two of us. Well, as I was taking the garbage out around 11 and I noticed a very familiar car pulling up. I guess great minds think a like because Ken was able to get basically the entire day off to come surprise me. I also had some flowers delivered that day, which was amazing. Our plans collided but we had an amazing day off  together.

The safe cupboard

Kevin loves to open the kitchen cupboards whenever he has a chance. We have a gate up that blocks off the kitchen and the rest of the apartment which leaves Kevin with free reign of the living room and dining room (all of his toys are in the living room and it's completely baby proof) but occasionally we let him in the kitchen to roam around, usually if it's just Kevin and I at home and I'm doing dishes. Since the cupboards aren't baby proofed we have designated a "safe" cupboard full of fun tupperware dishes that stack together. Every time Kevin is in the kitchen we direct him to the safe cupboard and he has so much fun taking everything out, playing and stacking, that I know he's safe while I'm doing dishes.

The cupboard before Kevin starts playing (all nice and neat and stacked together)
And after. Like I said it keeps him busy.

First Haircut

Kevin doesn't have very much hair but the hair he had was getting long especially up top. It was kind of resembling a reverse mullet. So last night Ken and I put on our barber hats and decided to give Kevin his first hair cut. Not even being able to cut coupons straight I decided it was probably a bad idea to attempt his first haircut with actual scissors so Ken and I used the clipper set I bought Ken for Christmas. We popped on a size 2, first showed Kevin what we were going to do by running it on Daddy first and then got to work. He was a champ. He hardly moved and didn't fuss at all. And here you have it the before and after pictures.

Can you believe this much hair came from his little head?

Baby Earnhardt

Yesterday we bought Kevin a new toy that's similar to his racetrack he got for Christmas which he absolutely loves. This one is from the same line of toys but it's bigger and comes with a rattle that when shaken makes the car move. Basically a remote control car for babies. How cool and fun is that? Is also responds to other noises (different rattles and such) or we've noticed if Kevin tries pushing it, it also starts. It has two settings you can make it go straight or in circles. It works o.k on our carpet but works better on the floor in the kitchen. Needless to say Kevin (and Ken) both have a lot of fun with it. Kevin loves to get it to go and then he runs a way from it. It's pretty fun to watch and makes Ken and I think, why didn't we have toys like this when we were growing up?

10 months

Kevin turned 10 months old yesterday. It's amazing to me to watch his gradual progression from baby to toddler. As I watch him and learn about him I'm amazed to discover how he is so much of his own person but yet so much of Ken and I. He is such a happy boy, such a snuggly, cuddly, lovey boy. It seems like he does something new every day. He weighs 19 lbs, 10 oz. He's 30 inches long. He has 5 teeth with another close to coming through. He had eye surgery in January which the results of have been amazing. We haven't had any problems with mucus since the surgery. Some of the adorable things he does: if he hears Ken or I laughing he will start laughing too. He tells on himself, if he's doing something he's not supposed to or is into something off limits we hear him get really quiet then all of a sudden he'll giggle. He LOVES to blow raspberries, and this is also the way he tells us if he doesn't like what he's eating. If we start saying "No No No" He will start shaking his head, and he loves to dance!! He also loves to carry things around in his mouth. Some of the favorite things he loves to do are: He absolutely LOVES to climb stairs (Mom is always behind him), he loves to snuggle with his blankets, loves to play with his race track he got for Christmas. And without further ado here are some pictures of our beautiful 10 month old!!

Blanket in one hand bottle in the other. Typical bedtime routine snuggle time with Daddy.

Playing on the floor with Mom. (Look at his top teeth, he has 3 up there)
A sock. One of the many things he will pick up and carry around in his mouth.

 At the aquarium with Daddy!

Our days can be pretty hectic and at times I wish we didn't have to go to work. I'm thankful he get's to come with me but I still have the typical working mom guilt because even though he comes with me I still feel like he doesn't get the one on one time he deserves. We try to do something special and fun every weekend and whenever Ken can come get him he does so that Kevin can at least have one on one time with one of us. I still constantly feel blessed that we have such an amazing boy who brings us so much love and happiness.
