Resolutions

Well hello again blog world, my how I've missed you. Technically I didn't really make any resolutions but Ken and I did discuss things we would like to work on, do better at, and fix. So here they are prepared nice and neatly in a list.
  •  Control our spending
  • Cut down our debt
  • Eat out less and start taking better care of ourselves. (Start exercising and stop eating fast food)
  • Spend more family time together ( T.V and computer off )
  • Start planning for our future P.M (Post Military)
  • Blog and record more
And now an update on how we've done the first month into the new year. We have actually done quite well on almost everything on the list. We have successfully cut out almost all fast food from our diet and if we have gone we've learned to make healthier choices (salads, chili, baked potatoes in lieu of double cheeseburgers, nuggets, fries, etc.). As soon as we get our taxes back which should be any day now we will be paying off ALL of our credit card debt except one. We are keeping one open for emergencies and will also continue to keep a small balance on it to show a payment history to continue to repair and build our credit. It's going to be so nice to have the extra money in our account that's not going towards paying off credit cards. We've done really well on family time, making sure we don't do things like play games, watch movies, etc. until Kevin has gone to bed. We've made it to the aquarium already once this month, and almost every weekend we go somewhere together, whether it be window shopping at the mall, grocery shopping or to breakfast Sunday morning we try to make every outing with each other. Since we are also cooking at home more we have family dinners, all together at the table.
Obviously I haven't been able to blog as much as I would like but I have started recording more of Kevin's milestones. I hung up a calender by my side of the bed (a very fitting Precious Moments calender to be specific) to help remind me to record when Kevin has done something that day. Which has been great because he has had quite a few the past month including: dancing, clapping, having his eye surgery and cutting his 5th tooth!! Don't worry there will be a HUGE blog post coming soon with pictures that will be all about him!
Did you make any resolutions? If so how have you done so far?

2010 Recap, Part 2

May

What an amazing month May was. Ken and I were getting the hang of the whole parenting thing. Kevin started sleeping 8 hour stretches through the night and we made a trip back home to Idaho. It was great seeing everyone but even more amazing watching this little person grow right in front of us. Some of our favorite pictures from the month:

Taking a nap with Daddy at Great Grandma and Grandpa Woods'

My attempt to improvise at bath time!!

 Snuggling with Mommy!!

June

We started the month of June in Oregon visiting Grandma Alese. We also spent some time in Washington with Grandpa Kevin, all the Aunties, and Cousins.

 Finally meeting Grandma Alese.

 Playing with cousing Adam.

Photo session with my adorable boy.

July

Our July started off with a sick baby on the 2nd, who had a really bad viral infection requiring a one night stay in the hospital. This was our first experience with a sick baby and stressed both of us out, making us realize just how worried you can be as a parent. He recovered just fine and the rest of this month was filled with celebrating Independence Day, and our 3 year wedding anniversary. We also took a mini family vacation to Washington D.C.

First time being sick... not a fun day.

 Fourth of July

 Our happy, smiley, boy.

 August

August was a such a great month, made even better by our little boy showing us just what a great, fun and goofy personality he has. Some of my favorite pictures are from this month. Especially the goofy one at the end!

2010 Recap, Part 1

I can't believe 2010 is over. It was an amazing year filled with so many different emotions. Here is a recap of our year in pictures!!
 January

29 weeks pregnant taken 1/11/2010

 30 weeks, taken 1/23/2010

January 2010 we were just barely starting the third trimester of my pregnancy. I continued to work and we anxiously continued the progression of my pregnancy.

February

Kevin's 3D ultrasound picture, our Valentines gift to each other.

Right before we left to have our 3D ultrasound done. 33 weeks pregnant, taken 2-8-2010

February seemed to go by very fast. For Valentines Day we decided to go have a 3D ultrasound done of our baby. Even though he was awake right before we went, he slept all through the ultrasound. Either way we were still so very excited to get a sneak peek at our adorable baby boy.

March

 37 weeks pregnant, taken 3-7-2010

 39 weeks pregnant, taken 3-20-2010

39 weeks plus 5 days... almost to my due date. Taken 3-27-2010.

March went by fairly quickly. We started getting emergency work numbers set up for Ken in case I went into labor. I started seeing the Dr. once a week and each time I had no progress. Ken and I both celebrated our 22nd birthdays (8th and 9th) and on the 25th we had my sister Amanda and my other Mom, Alese, come up to hopefully be here to welcome baby Kevin into the world.

April

My last pregnancy picture. I was 40 weeks plus 4 when they decided to induce my labor. Taken 4-2-2010

23 hours and one C-section later our baby was finally here!!

Bright eyed and alert. Ken was taking pictures in the nursery while I was in the recovery room.

Holding my son for the first time.

4-3-2010

April started out on a sad note, we had to say goodbye to my sister and Mom-A without them being able to meet Kevin. The day after they left the Doctors decided it was best to induce my labor. I spent 23 hours in labor before Kevin was born via Cesarean birth. It was by far one of the most amazing experiences in my life. We spent the remainder of the month learning from each other, adapting to being parent's and learning to trust one another. It was definitely tough having absolutely no one here to help us but it made us incredibly strong and really taught us how to rely on each other.
